Korcula Island to Dubrovnik

23/09/2008
Reluctant to pack up this morning and it is a beautiful sunny day too. We spent the morning at the wharf and watched the fun and frustration of the yachts and ferries berthing. Fun for us and frustration for the harbourmaster trying to get them lined up exactly.
We walked to the western side of the town and had a souvlaki for lunch. Then it was time to pick up our luggage and head for the ferry to Dubrovnik. We are sitting on the deck on a very smooth sea watching the rugged Dalmatian coastline roll by on onside and the Adriatic islands on the other.
We arrived to be accosted by a barrage of Sobe ladies "very cheap... very nice.." and would only be left alone when insisting our accommodation was booked. Our landlord said to call when we arrived, and then we were told where to catch the bus to the Pile Gate to go through the gate to the fountain and ring again.... Caught the bus, found the fountain and made the call... I was then asked what I looked like and what I was wearing.... beginning to feel like I was in a spy movie. He said his brother would meet us in 5 minutes. A young man arrived and looked about expectantly and Bob said "I bet that's him.." then he grinned and walked over introduced himself picked up our bags and we were off! We scurried along behind as he rapidly walked down the centre of the main street for 2 blocks, then down a narrow laneway to our residence. Could not be better!
Lucked in with the apartment once again! Very old building and very spacious apartment right in the centre of town.
