Lumbarda (sounds like a dance!)
22/9/2008
We joined the locals on the bus to the tranquil village of Lumbarda this morning. This is a pretty coastal town which is fun to explore. There are plenty of holiday villas and apartments for rent here. We saw our Aussie compatriot from the ferry returning to his apartment with his supply of beer - we made do with a coffee.
It does not take long to walk out of the town to discover the many vineyards where they make sweet desert wine.
This afternoon back in Korcula old town, there is plenty of time to relax and get back to watching the yachts and large motor craft maneuvering to berth at the wharf. It looks like the fleet has arrived from the Split regatta. You can soon pick the novices from the experienced yachtsmen as there were some pretty close shaves. We really don't want to leave tomorrow as this is such an enjoyable island.
I decided to get a trim at the only hairdressers which was called "Frizerski"- Bob wasn't too sure what I was going to come out looking like.
Renata had emailed to say she could not accommodate us but suggested her friend Vladimir had a very nice apartment and supplied contact details. I rang and luckily enough he put his son on who spoke english and they had a vacancy.... what luck! He said to call when we arrived in Dubrovnik and he would give directions.
